A review of Apple iPad on Navtej Kohli blog.

After 5 long years of hype and anticipation, the apple iPad is finally here. While Apple in itself is a technology behemoth, but this tablet computer iPad was perhaps the most awaited product of apple in recent times. The technology industry had divided opinions on the product. Some called it a gizmo from some Hollywood sci-fi flick, others compared it to the holy tablets of stone. Navtej Kohli IT blog brings you a complete lowdown of the much hyped ipad, right from features, configuration, content and cost. So, read on and see for yourself if its really up for the job.

Already in tune with the apple’s other products, iPad is a slim, sleek, and smart looking gadget. Apple is establishing the tablet as a pioneer in a new genre of computing. Affirming this, Steve jobs, the CEO of Apple, said during the launch, “iPad is going to be somewhere between a laptop and a smartphone”
Featuring a 9.7 inch glass touchscreen, this stylish device is only half-an-inch thick and weighs only one-and-a-half pounds. The gadget also promises to display books, newspapers, websites and videos in a very stylish manner. Thus, the application and media companies will have yet another medium to advertise content.

Gaming industry too is not untouched by the frenzy. Referring it to as a large screen real-estate, the iPad is believed to mark a new epoch in keyboard less gaming. With a larger display players will enjoy more flexibility while controlling the games, thereby adding more zing to iPhone games, which are already available. Electronic Arts even stated that Ipad is a little bit like holding a HDTV inches from your face. Nothing can beat it for portable gaming. Besides this, the device also features a speaker, a microphone, and and accelerometer which enables you to switch between landscape and portrait mode.

It, however, doesn’t support a SIM card as the buzz was. Another snag that left the critics shocked is the lack of user facing camera, since video-chats are now considered the lifeline of online chats.

One of the biggest selling points of this aluminum backed device is its speed. As apple has embedded its own proprietary 1GHz Apple A4 chip, flipping through the gizmo is a cakewalk. Initially, the iPad will be launched in 3 models worldwide, ranging from $499 to $699, the tablet will be hitting the market in March.. Also, the device will connect to the web only through a wi-fi connection. However, the second version of the tablet will support 3G wireless access and will be released late this year. Surprisingly, the gadget lacks some common features which we have become used to in our gadgets.

One that immediately comes to head is the missing multi-tasking feature. In recent times, where running multiple programs on your laptop has become a norm, the so called state-of-the-art gizmo lets you run just a single application at a time.

This means, you can’t chat or listen to songs while you arrange your pics or browsing internet for that matter. Additionally, the flash feature, the basic software that manages video and animation on most websites, also doesn’t run on it. Besides, the users will also miss the USB port, especially with a meager 64 GB (maximum) in built storage.

Whether the ipad will be a hit or a miss is a question that time will answer. Until then, just purchase one and flaunt your newly acquired gizmo to the world.

Google 10th Birthday Logo

Navtej kohli missed to wish the Google on its tenth Birthday. Decades had past when Google was stared on 7 September 1998 which was first run by two enthusiastic, dedicated techie named Larry Page and Sergey Brin and they stared Google journey in a garage. There is also be an interesting story for choosing that name , its was named by two young Stanford University electrical engineering graduate students in misspell homage to the word “googol” – an infinity-like number denoting 10 to the power of 100 (that’s the number one followed by a hundred zeros).
Google had reached in that position by its rapid growth which never be accompany by any other Industry. But Google journey was started before
1998 , in 1995 Larry Page and Sergey Brin meet at Stanford. (Larry, 24,a U Michigan grad, is considering the school; Sergey, 23, is assigned to show him around.) According to some accounts, they disagree about most everything during this first meeting. Now in the year of 1996 both Larry and Sergey collecting the students for making a search engine called BackRub for the Stanford university and worked near about one year in the servers in the 1996 year they make up their mind to make a Global search engine and named it “googol,” in the year 1997.
When the company was stated its was zero revenue company and now had reached upto 20,000 employees and revenue of around $150bn and its annual income in the year 1997 was $16bn. Now according to statically data now Google shared 66 percent of total searches. Now only search area in which Google had left its footprints but now its growing its features and launched many other things which not only informative but also best source for promoting business across the world .So what should we have to expect with Google .
Now Google also enters into the utility software with the launch of Google Chrome and had downloaded by many users across the world .Currently it is in Beta version but Google is in big hope soon its will share major parts in the web browser tools across the world . Chrome is Google product which now be in competition with Internet explorer , Mozila and Safari . Currently its launch for only Windows Vista and XP users .Google claiming that for those 70 percent Internet
Explorer users across the world at least check out one time Google Chrome , its Google gift on its 10 anniversary to all Internet users , everyone can enjoy fast and secure web surfing with Google Chrome never offered by any other web browser .
While there are many product are in Google owner ship which are now very popular and big reputation in the market. Like first we Look , Google search which be Google main task and its also offered many verities like image search , product search, video search. Google had makes successful mile stone in the SEM and Internet Market and leaving behind internet tycoon Yahoo. Now the Google dominating in SEM and Internet Marketing with its Google Adsense , Google Adwords ,froogle, Google product search , Local search and other business related search option . Google also acquire a big video search company which having big brad name in the Internet Industry , its name is Youtube. Youtube now very popular and most searchable video search engine . Google also dominating Social networking websites. Orkut now very popular and almost 70 person of the world having a profile on the Orkut. Now Goggle also boost many traveling agencies and other business with Google Earth and Google maps which enable user to find each and every location across the world . Yet Google Earth also faced many criticizes from many countries government because it also show easily many curial and important location by easy search and many government feels that its be hazardous for security.
But its be unreliable thing that before 10 years ago Google was launched and now its dominating in web browsing. Some major events Google listed below

1995 – Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergei Brin meet at Stanford University.

January 1996 – Page and Brin begin work on the BackRub search engine.

15 September 1997 – Google.com domain name registered.

7 September 1998 – The first incarnation of the Google search engine is launched.

Navtej Kohli missed to wish the Google but now Navtej Kohli want to say Belated Happy Birthday to Google and hope another 10 ten Google will brings many things for amazing the world.

A step closer to Quantum Computers – Navtej Kohli

Posted by admin | Information technology | Tuesday 23 June 2009 2:40 am

According to the recent research conducted by University of Surrey complex computer encryption codes could be solved and new drug design could be
developed significantly faster.

If the inferences of this survey are to be believed, the concept of workable quantum computer might just come true. Renouncing the findings of earlier research, this research proved the possibility of making these computers in silicon rather than a vacuum.

Being much faster than the ordinary computers, Quantum computers are said to have the potential of fixing problems that might take millions of years to solve normally. Quantum computers work when atoms are allowed to move in an undisturbed oscillating wave motion, within a fixed space. The waves thus generated can carry much more information than an average computer bit and hence making the computer programmes needed to crack a code more powerful and
faster.
Previous research in this area was successful to the extent of providing some basis for quantum computer by using atoms suspended in vacuum. However it has not been possible to make enough for a whole computer as scientists can only hold a limited number of atoms in place for a short period of time. Using atoms trapped in a silicon crystal, the research team, which also involved scientists from University College London and Heriot-Watt University, showed that the quantum waves oscillate long enough for a computer operation, and now hope to produce a higher number of computer bits.

The researchers used the ‘free electron laser’ FELIX in the Netherlands to carry out the work which has been published in Proceedings of the
National Academy of Sciences of the USA.
